Baker

Roxanne Baker (she/her) is an ASL Consultant . She has worked at Portland Stage Company and Penobscott Theatre as a consultant for ASL interpreted performances.

She is an advocate/activist serving on the school board at her alma mater where she fights for early language acquisition and an improved learning environment for Deaf/hard of hearing children.

She is currently an adjunct ASL/Deaf Studies Instructor at the University of Southern Maine . A native of Maine, she enjoys spreading the beauty of American Sign Language & Deaf Culture.

Her latest projects were “My Hands Remember” which was based and inspired on the first hand account of Deaf Jewish woman’s escape from the horrors of Nazi Germany that was premiered at the Wheelock Family Theatre in Boston and “The Promised Hands: Coming home to Jewish Deaf roots” is based on her experiences growing up as the only Deaf Jewish student at her alma mater. She enjoys being the mother of her precious sons and a bubba too.
